Meet Claire
- Baby Saves
I noticed decreased fetal movements at 39 weeks and 6 days after running errands and eating dinner with my family. At this point she had been very active in the evenings so I sat down and drank cold water but still no movements. Knowing this wasn’t her normal pattern and following my intuition that something felt off, we contacted the doctor and went to the hospital to be checked.
They found her heartbeat right away but after failing both the non-stress test and biophysical ultrasound, the amazing medical team prepped me for a C-section. Claire came into the world at 10:28 p.m. with a true knot in her umbilical cord. These are very rare and often cannot be seen on an ultrasound. It would have been so easy to wait until my 40-week appointment the next morning, but I am so thankful I was counting kicks and followed my intuition to have a healthy baby delivered that night!
The best advice I can give is to keep counting those kicks, follow your intuition, and never feel silly calling your doctor and getting things checked out! -Jenna B., Claire’s mom
