Hello, I’m Isabelle Connelly! I live in John’s Island, South Carolina, with my husband, Reeves.

I am also the mother of a forever baby, Fletcher Andrew Connelly. Fletcher was born on March 23, 2025, at 36 weeks. He weighed seven pounds, one ounce, and measured 20 inches long. He had beautiful reddish-blonde hair and was absolutely perfect — except he wasn’t breathing.

The night before delivery, my husband and I went to the hospital because I hadn’t felt Fletcher move for a while. After a Doppler and ultrasound session that felt like an eternity, we were told the words no parent should ever have to hear: “We’re sorry, but there’s no heartbeat.”

I was completely blindsided. I had always been led to believe stillbirth was extremely uncommon. I was even more shocked when no clear cause could be determined, and it was attributed to a likely umbilical cord accident. Many late-term stillbirths are never given a definitive cause, and they are far more common than most people realize.

In honor of Fletcher and his innocent, short life, I decided to become a Count the Kicks Ambassador to help other mothers learn how to monitor their babies’ movements more closely in the third trimester. I am also passionate about supporting medical research into stillbirth and advancing prevention strategies.

My husband and I will always, always love our darling Fletcher. I am proud to do this work on Earth in his honor, while he loves us from afar in Heaven.
