My name is McKinsey Cirulnick. Between 2007 and 2025 I worked as a certified, inpatient RN specializing in obstetrics- labor & delivery, OB triage, postpartum, and high-risk antepartum. I worked in a variety of settings including high birth volume medical centers and small community hospitals in California and Montana. I have been a part of countless amazing, heart-wrenching, and memorable births. Working in the intimate birth room for the better part of two decades has been the honor of my life, second only to being a mother myself.

I was introduced to Healthy Birth Day, Inc. and Count the Kicks during the 2025 AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) National Convention. Count the Kicks had not reached any of the hospitals I had worked for yet, and I quickly felt inspired to spread the word at home once I learned about it.

Recently, I have stepped away from bedside nursing as my hospital’s Obstetrics unit was closed. This closure was devastating for me, but inspired me to continue advocating for families and babies outside the birth room. My goal is to help implement a comprehensive, statewide stillbirth prevention program through Count the Kicks in Montana. Although I have not personally been affected by stillbirth, I have held, swaddled, bathed, measured, photographed, and prayed for many still babies in my care. I can only imagine the lifelong effects of stillbirth for families who experience it, and I will work passionately as the new Count the Kicks Ambassador for Montana to reduce the occurrence of this tragedy.

At home, I am blessed with two beautiful, school-aged children, Camille and Carter, a supportive and kind husband, Danny, and a busy English Springer Spaniel named Lady. We enjoy hiking, kayaking, fishing, huckleberry picking, spotting animals at the national parks, playing board games, and watching movies.
