In 2003 Brian and I lost our daughter Grace Elizabeth to a true knot in her umbilical cord after a healthy and uneventful nine-month pregnancy. We were shocked and heartbroken to lose our perfectly healthy-looking, beautiful baby girl. Although we will always wish Grace could be here with us, she has given us many gifts, including the strength and motivation to make stillbirth a maternal health tragedy of the past.

Janet is one of the five original founding moms of Healthy Birth Day, Inc. the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that created the Count the Kicks campaign.
