Having worked in women’s health for many years, it’s a helpless and tragic situation for families when there is a fetal loss or neonatal death. As a nursing leader, I was excited to hear about the work of Count the Kicks as it was getting started, with a positive emphasis on prevention of stillbirths.  Many years ago my sister experienced a stillbirth and the event was kept quiet, with little mention of the birth experience and virtually no support for my sister or her family.  That event had a significant impact on me as a young woman,  so when I heard about Count the Kicks, I wanted to promote this work in memory of Mary Patricia, whom I did not get a chance to meet.
