Brenda Vasquez graduated from Drake University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with endorsements in all Social Sciences, and concentrations in Women’s & Gender Studies as well as Social Justice in Urban Education.
After becoming a mom in 2021, experiencing birth trauma, and realizing the lack of equitable resources in our communities, she decided to make herself available to fill these gaps. Through work at local nonprofits, she was able to provide bilingual childbirth education services with a foundation in supporting marginalized communities, empowering young parents in the medical space and providing necessary advocacy and support at vulnerable times in expectant parents’ lives. In order to provide a full spectrum of support, Brenda is pursuing a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in an effort to continue to fill gaps in our communities.
In Brenda’s work with expectant parents, she has seen how empowering it can be to heal through storytelling and is excited to be Healthy Birth Day, Inc.‘s Baby Save Coordinator.
