Carol Millar serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Healthy Birth Day, Inc. As the COO, Carol oversees the day-to-day business operations, facilitates the implementation of the strategic vision of the organization, provides fiscal oversight and ensures that our team members have the support they need to bring their best selves to work each day.
After 30+ years as an investment professional working for several large insurance companies in Des Moines, she decided to embark on a new path to use her skills to serve the community. Healthy Birth Day, Inc.’s mission is a personal mission for Carol and her husband. In 1994 their son, Caleb was stillborn at 34 weeks. She believes if the Count the Kicks awareness campaign had existed then she would have had the tools to track her son’s movements and he might have been saved.
Carol graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and has a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Administration from Colorado State University. She served on the Board of Everybody Wins IA! for five years, and in 2022 received the Governor’s Volunteer Award for her service as a mentor/volunteer for more than 15 years. Carol also serves as an adviser to Alpha Omicron PI sorority at ISU and a Big in the school based program with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Iowa. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending theatre performances, reading, and cheering on the ISU Cyclones and the Chicago Cubs.
